How can I make sure that email recipients are able to open a Word attachment?

Hi I've sent an email out with an attachment in Word. Somebody has advised me they are unable to open the attachment and I suspect it's probably because she doesn't have Word on her ...show more
Answer:

the recipient must have Word of some kind to open a Word document. However, if you have a newer version that you save it in, it may not open for them. Try selecting 'save as' and choose the compatibility mode. Use the option that have the oldest Word version and the broadest availability. ie: "word 97-2003" this should be compatible with all versions.
