How many Russian timezones did the average pre-rail Russian Tsar ever visit?
-
I'd also like to know about post-rail too, but pre-rail is more interesting. And of course, timezones probably didn't exist then, it's more a question of how far east they actually traveled.
-
Answer:
As I know, Russian monarchs never crossed the Ural mountains in the pre-rail era. Only in 1890s the would-be tsar Nicolas II attempted a journey to Asia. He travelled across Egypt, India, Siam, China and Japan and returned to Russian soil in Vladivostok. Then he crossed the country from East to West, heading to St. Petersburg.
