What should I do about my 'plays favorites' boss?

What, if anything, can be done about a boss that CLEARLY plays favorites?

    Not much. You can quit and go find a job where you are treated fairly. Its not illegal for a boss to play favorites, they are allowed to give extra perks and promotions and pay raises, etc to the employees they like. It SHOULD be based on job performance, but there's no law that forces them to ignore personal opinion. If you work in a larger company, you could try going over the bosses head to the next level of management, but this rarely accomplishes anything other than having 2 levels of management that treat you unfairly.
