You should expect to spend at least three days a week - solid - making cold calls. You would also have to problem solve with existing accounts. They always have problems and they want their account manager to solve them.

What I suggest is that you go to any major job search site, like hotjobs, or monster, and type in account manager - you will get a list of all the available account manager jobs, and if you see the details, you will find out what the job responsbilities are. If you are interested in a specific industry, like healthcare, marketing, technology, etc., you could include that in the keyword search to narrow down the results.
