What is the definition for ionic size?

Is it possible to take a picture at high enough definition to surpass life size?

  • For instance, could I take a picture of a penny and enlarge it to some size significantly larger than the penny without losing detail?

  • Answer:

Certainly. There are cameras and lenses which produce an image larger than life size. Using a bellows to allow longer extension of the lens Allows you to photograph even very small things with great detail Microscopic cameras enable you to get even more magnification. Using a large format camera like the one on my back deck It is not difficult to enlarge an object by two or three times onto a large piece of film. You do need to adjust exposure time to compensate for the decreased amount of light though.

Jack covered most of this.  I will add that you can also use a macro lens, which is designed for this purpose. Aside from the small stuff, medium and large format cameras are often used to create greater than life size images of people and products for display purposes.
