Do you have to be an LVN before you can be an RN?

I want to be an RN,considering going to vocational school to get my LVN,can some nurses give me some feed back

  I am not a nurse but my mother was and my sister is...this is the difference in going to vocational or college...if you are a hands on person and learn better that way...then vocational is for you...if you are a book learner then you may want to choose a local college to attend... My mother was a book type learner so she graduated from our local college course.... My sister was a hands on learn therefore she chose a vocational school and once she graduated she took on line courses to get her RN degree and now she is teaching at the vocational school as a clinical teacher... your options are wide open....she is even getting her master's degree online and goes to another city to take her finals... I know that I'm not exactly the person you were looking for a response from but I went through their studies with both of them and help them study alot....I say experience is the best teacher. Also, one thing I learned from them is that you really learn to appreciate your climb up the ladder when you remember what you had to do to get there. I know that the LPN's do most of the dirty work...and the RN's do a lot of the paperwork...also it looks good on your resume'. Best wishes on your new journey in life....HH
