Many community colleges offer a diploma in medical billing and coding. It's not as good as a degree, but you'll be qualified to start working and then you can work and work towards a degree in this field.

IN order to have job stability go for the associates degree. If it takes you less than 12 months, chances are , you will have a hard time finding a job. :( I'm looking into a college now that offers an A.O.S in medical assisting and billing. That's more worth someones time.

I took a Medical Billing and Coding course here in my area. (Lafayette, Louisiana) It was at a technical college and was a 3-week course. This enable me to sit for the National Certification test with the NCCT. I passed the national certification testing, but this was an exceptionally informed school. The best thing would be contact your local college or look for technical schools in your area.

ONLY do college courses on this. We tried the tv and newspaper ads and did everything expected of us and lost thousands of dollars. It's not a simple as it sounds, but without college, you won't get in the doors of any offices.
