Adding to what said - 1. He still remembers the Mysore experience(if is a fresher ) & and will always have one or two stories to tell. 2. Spends his daily time by cursing his job every day. Talks about irace, Narayan Murthy, bad leadership ..blah blah blah and and occasionally some work also. 3. During quarter end, plans on how to complete the quarterly average of attendance(everyone has some hours short). 4. Has fought with his manager /onsite coordinator at least once.

Remember the scene in The Matrix where Morpheus gets Neo into a computer program for the first time and Neo finds it hard to believe it exists and he screams "Let me out!" Let me out!" and he eventually pukes? Everyone at Infy are The Ones'. Lucky for me, I stay in Zion now.

Before joining infosys it was considered to be employee centric company but my exp with infy was very bad.I used to work for 12-14 hours and forced to exploit all freshers who were working under me. I stayed there for 9 months and in my whole tenuare we worked on all sat sun , just exception was weekend on which i got engaged and for going on leave i had to take approval of delivery manager.i was warned many times if i did not do what is expected i would be asked to leave company. And when it become extremely unbearable i left infy job. When we complained to hr it was rejected straightaway on the basis of project need. It was absolute scary exp but one thing it was for me and might be account specific as i have many of my friends who even dont have much work on weekdays\U0001f604

Love the work environment... I had best mentors to teach me compared to any other company i worked for.... I have seen best managers as well as the worst. Unfortunately, I had to report to the worst manager(no appreciation for work, no appraisal and takes credit for the work I did) and the worst part is I can't even escalate on him since I have never interacted with his boss(I just know the name). It is sad, pathetic and embarrassing to hear that a boss can do anything(or in other words nothing but just with draw salary) and no escalation/feed back process in place.

Let me focus mainly on positives, though there are few negatives as well, some specific to Infosys and some generic to IT industry.. My answer is also focused on mid senior level employees (5 to 10 years of exp) 1) Usually is more polished & professional in demeanor and communication. This is because, The employee gets to interact with so many other polished and professional people from the very beginning The posh infrastructure & facilities gives a sense of entitlement and prestige and hence acquires a demeanor bordering on arrogance. I have been to multiple client locations and interacted with many other vendor colleagues from other Indian companies and I can assure you that Infosys guys are a notch above from very early in career. 2) Over years, loses depth in technology and gets conditioned to be a seasoned program/ People manager well versed with politics. In people management, sure there are obvious bad apples in people management. But if you notice the majority of those bad apples would be laterals who have diluted the culture to an extent. The other category, the bad apples and long timers of Infy are usually the ones with the sweat poison approach. Those working for such bad apples never get to know that they are screwed until a long time. 3) Goes onsite/ or gets exposed to client interaction very early compared to peer companies (another cause for 1) 4) Gets numb with trickling increments and slow promotions, and watches in awe at his/ her allegedly lesser friends earn more from unknown companies. Except when at onsite, where they are one of the highest paid. 5) Mostly common with other companies as well - for stellar career progression, onsite opportunities, ratings, luck plays a huge part. For sure, self effort is important. But more important is who the manager is, how much does your wavelength matches with the manager, how much political clout the manager has and those statistical random HR events such as what technology/ domain one gets assigned to and the team you are assigned to..

I went through the previous answers and found all of them written during pre-Vishal Sikka era. While most of the answers generally hold good even now, there are quite a few that changed during the past 1.5 years. Proudly wears business casuals to office-everyday of the week Knows that he doesn't have to wait one whole year for getting his/her promotion once they become eligible, thanks to quarterly promotion cycles Once becoming an ex-infoscion, realizes what he/she is missing in their new company Innovative thought process and customer centric approach to problem solving, thanks to zero distance and design thinking workshops Positive lookout for the future as the new management has brought in new approach to Infosys' way of doing business. These are some which I have observed. Of course, there will still be critics which can never be avoided in such a huge organization.

Typical infosys employee: 1. Work's during the day and enjoy's afterwards. Those who don't..shame on you. You infoscions don't utilize company benefits. 2. Always remembers his mysore training days. 3. Always forgets that the mysore training was never project specific and IT industry is such that if you know the concepts you can scale up easily(I remember clearly being told thrice during induction that our allocations might not be to units which are based on our training...mayb that's why I was satisfied and passed the stream with a class attendance of two days..if you dnt believe me go check the records). 4. Chats on the communicator more than he works(a fact i have seen because people who have no access to communicator would always have less pending work). 5. Curses about the low salary while forgetting Infosys pays salaries better than it's counterparts on the same scale.(For a fresher like me I got paid better than most of my counterparts in other companies considering the fact that I never ever got a hike, not even the TPI and it's benefits for a year, while others got). 6. Expected a bit too much from an IT industry(IT is a service oriented field and the problems faced by it are consisent with other service based fields like hospitality etc.) I am writing this as an ex-infoscian. Believe me...I left infosys because I never liked IT industry. If some day comes and I 'HAVE' to go back to IT industry again infosys would be my first choice.

Comes to everyday mostly sharp on time. (Remember the nine and a half hour rule) Opens the communicator and texts his nearest friend for coffee. The juniors still curse the rule to wear formals in the company. Discuss pay hike, promotions after the apprisal results are out. Crib about how good the world outside is.
