    good luck, that is what i have to say. i have the degree and no cert. I worked in the computer industry for 2 years and got laid off. they used 1970's software took me a while to learn it since i was up to date with vb and the rest of the new stuff. now looking for a job everyone wants vb.net and a ton of stuff i don't know. i say forget the computer gig, you are out of date to fast and they can find cheap new people anywhere. go for a state job with tons of perks and you wont be out of date in 2 years. PS - if you really want to be in computers, get a 4 year degree! trust me there is a very little difference between the two but that is what they all want. and if you don't have one they will send you a nice letter saying "Sorry".
