Answer:
redness and swelling r not a sign of infection. its not supposed to be there so its going to b pissed off. if u have a milky white discharge u have an infection. h2 ocean is a great product if not used as a spray. the best thing to use is a dixie cup or shot glass filled with warm water and 1/4 tsp full of sea salt mix it in the cup and saturate a cotton ball with it and hold it to the piercing for 15-20 min 1-2 times daily until the infection is gone this can take up to a couple of weeks. use any anti inflammatory twice a day and ice packs if it bothers u too much. using the spray isn't going to do u much good but soaking the piercing with sea salt will do u wonders.

Not sure if its infected.....but it happened to me.........and from time to time since. I just use rubbing alcohol to clean it out, the ear and earing, and it worked. It clearned up for me in about 3 days. Best of luck

I got a second piercing near my cartilage piercing about a year ago. I thought i was infected a few times, but i think the general rule is that an earring is infected if it is red and swelling, hot to the touch or leaking a dark yellow greenish smelly puss. So if yours is extremely swollen there is a good chance it is infected. BUT this happened to me, and i just left it alone, didn't touch the earrings at all, or let anything touch my ear, and it went away in about a day or two. If you cannot see part of the jewelry anymore go directly to a piercer. You should consult the person who pierced you before removing the jewelry. Removing it could trap the infection inside your body and make it difficult to treat. Also you could be allergic to your new earring maybe? Personally, i would say just leave it alone, because this sort of thing tends to happen with cartilage piercings. But if you are feeling sick, SEEK help. vitamin c will help against infection as well!

i would wait a week. there is going to be some reaction. its not natural to have peircings and its your bodys way of pushing out foreign outbjects. just make sure to clean it often. keep your hands out of it and sleep on the other side so your ear doesnt get irritated in your sleep
Call the shop and talk to a the person who gave you the piercing. They should know how the piercing should be healing and if that is normal or not. The same thing happened to me too, but mine did get infected even tho I was cleaning it. Give them a call and see.
i know what to do! mine did the SAME THING! ok well since u got the older cartelige one done about 4/5 montsha go, then TAKE THAT ONE OUT for about 6 to 8 weeks until the other one is competeyly normal.
