What are the best wilderness survival sites?

Does anyone know any good free/primitive camping sites ashore/wilderness in Maine ?

    Check out your National Forest Park area. The ones that I have been to in my area are very remote & some have map areas that will get you close to water if need be. You could drive in, hike to your area & camp out. I checked out the freecampgrounds.com site for Maine & most of them are for RVs, restaurants etc..areas you do not want to camp at. Please check out these sites & see if they are a better fit for you. You may have to search a little within their site, but hopefully you will find what you are searching for.
