    You cannot use a computer to access the data on a PS3 hard drive, so it cannot be cloned. What you need to do is use Safe Mode: http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-General/How-to-access-Playstation-3-SAFE-MODE/td-p/5812274?start=0&tstart=0 If it still freezes and doesn't work after that, then try a new hard drive. If that doesn't work, then it's an internal hardware issue that would need to be fixed, or else get a new PS3.

You may be able to save your data by cloning your hard drive, although if it's damaged you may not be able to.
