  Uninstal it again, then get this program and use it to clean out the registry and junk internet files. http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ Get it, install it. Its free Click the "Tools" tab and use it to remove the Windows Live Messenger. It looks like Windows Add/Remove application. Click the "Cleaner" tab and then click "Analyse" When its done click the "Run cleaner" tab..you don't want to save anything. Throw out the lot. Do it 3 or 4 times till it finds nothing Then click the Registry tab, click "Scan for issues" and when its done click the "Fix selected issues " tab. Do it 3 or 4 times until it finds no issues. If you are asked if you want to backup/save anything you can click NO. Then click "Fix Issues" Reboot Then try to instal old windows messenger again. Might work, don't know. Its just that uninstalling a program or application doesn't always remove the obsolete pointers in the registry and they can cause problems.
