What are summer internship opportunities for Computer/IT Engineering undergraduate (T.E.)student in India?

  • I'm third year IT engineering student under Pune university and looking for internship this summer for experience. Payment may not be the criteria. Anything in the domain of web development or app/software development would be done. Can anyone suggest me something ?

  • Answer:

    It depends on whether your college is Autonomous or not. In UoP there are two types of colleges : 1) Autonomous : CoEP,VIT 2) Non-Autonomous : MIT,PICT,Sinhagad,VIIT,etc The autonomous colleges give their students a 3 month(roughly) summer vacation where the students may opt to intern at some tech company. It may be a big Services company or even a startup. The students from Non-Autonomous colleges however, manage to get a summer vacation of 3 to 6 weeks (Depending on the college authorities). This time period is highly insufficient. Anyone who's taking you in as an intern requires that you devote approximately 3 months(that's what I've heard). If you're from a non-autonomous college, you will miss out on a large portion of your academic curriculum if you go in for an internship and hence HODs are sometimes reluctant to allow students to bunk college. The opportunities are many if you have sufficient time. If you're really good, some firms may even offer you a paid internship. I would suggest joining a startup where you'll actually learn interesting stuff. A simple google search for startups in should suffice or perhaps even checking out some answers on Quora regarding Pune based Startups.
