  • Answer:

How much time have you got until your first lesson? Unless you've got a couple of weeks, you might be better off riding in sneakers for your first lesson or two rather than running out and getting footwear that may turn out to be unsuitable. Ask your instructor if that would be OK. Whether you are riding Western or English, you'll need footwear that will not slip off your feet. You need a closed toe and a heel of half an inch or so. The shoe/boot must allow your ankle to flex. Do not try to ride in boots or shoes with an inside zipper, as this could irritate the horse and/or mar the saddle. I urge you to get boots that are meant for riding and not fashion, regardless of whether you are riding Western or English. Fashion boots simply will not hold up. If you live near a tack shop, check to see if they have any boots in your size on consignment, or if they have any discontinued styles on clearance. You can also check at your barn to see if anyone has boots they'd like to sell. Good luck, and have fun! P.S. Wear a helmet.

Are you ridin English or western? if your riding western then of course the cow girl boots but If your riding English then there's two types of boots tall boots and short boots with half chaps. I recommend short boots with half chaps because they are less expensive and tall boots are kind of uncomfortable. For a beginner I do not recommend tall boots. to find riding boots you can go online and buy , or go to a tack store. If you want cheap I guess go when there is a sale or discount! My favourite tack stores are bahrs , wellingtons, green hawk. If you don't have riding boots then just wear running shoes.

It depends on if you're riding western or english. English= Riding shoes, Western= Boots.

If you are doing western riding wear cowgirl boots if you are doing English wear English boots. Murdochs, sheplers, and tack shops carry boots
