    I totally recommend a Blank Snowboard at blanksnowboards.com I broke my Forum and couldn't afford another $450 board so I tried a Blank Snowboard for $200. They're a new company I think, and they sell direct to the public through their site. I ride the 155cm model and have been super stoked. It's soft enough to have tons of fun in the park, but it's not sooo soft that you can't have fun freeriding and going fast. It's the only quality board I've been able to find under $250.

You'll want more of an all mountian board if you're doing rails and steep slopes. But what have you heard bad about burton? The only thing wrong with burton is it's real mainstream, some people don't like the bandwagon aspect of it. But honestly it's good gear, just you will see someone with the same board as you probably.
