The best thing i have see with promoting is really just joining other forums and putting in your 2 cents about what ever it is there talking about. Then for you signature on your post just put your forum there and have people check it out, they may find it easier to use your's then what they have been using. Also the next big thing to promote is to just use "word of mouth", talk to people tell them about it. it works wonders IMO.
