  • More and more production companies are trying to create viral videos for brand name advertisers as a lower cost route to the consumer than traditional advertising, For example, the "Way Back Home" video of Danny MacAskill went viral and promotes RedBull. Has anybody attempted to quantify how big this market is and how fast it is growing?

    You have to narrow this question down a bit. Do you mean how many people can see a video if it goes viral? Or are you referring to how many people could see a "viral video" on YouTube? Keep in mind: Stuff that has the ILLUSION of going viral from big companies and advertising agencies aren't actually viral. Many large agencies buy views and comments in the thousands to help manipulate the YouTube algorithm. I'm not saying for sure that Red Bull did that, but I can state this is common practice. So when you're talking about viral videos, it's important to parse out things between organic virality and forced virality. 99% of the time? We're talking forced in some fashion.
