Are there any good hostels in Madrid, and are Madrid hostels cheap?

I'm going to Madrid and prefer to stay in a hostel, but don't know where Madrid hostels are or their rates.

  • Answer:

Madrid is a fun place to be in a hostel. The best site by far is Twizi.com, they list places to stay in Madrid (hostels) for less than 25 dollars a night and they have a map of where they all are. Happy travels!

Be careful with the word "hostal" in Spanish. It does not mean the same thing as "hostel" in English. A Spanish "hostal" is a sort of low cost small hotel, maybe a bit larger and more expensive than a "pension". Often a cheap way to go. The Spanish word for hostel is "albergue". I know there are a couple in Madrid. Try a Lonely Planet guidebook for good info.

Hostal Residencia Dominguez, C.de Santa Brigita for 29 euros Hostal Rio Mino, C. de Barbieri for 17 Euros Hostal Palacios, C.de Fuencarral for 25 Euros. All these rates are for single. Invest lots of time on the Internet and work with Mapquest to find out where the hostals are after finding their adresses. Madrid is very expensive compared to spanish villages where you can discover a lot more about Spain.
