Why does the sun lighten our hair, but darken our skin?

our hair is dead and when the sunlight hits our hair it sucks out the color. when the sun touches our skin the pigment darkens???

i think it's because our hair and skin are made of different things so sun has different affects on the two.

Are skin gets darker because of the Vitamin D towards the skin. The Body then creates more Melanin in the Skin giving it a Darker Pigment. Are hair gets lighter because the darker the pigment or the more Melanin, it will make the protein in the Hairs lighter. Its almost like a Natural defense towards the Sun, because the lighter hairs will reflect sun light.

The UV radiation and the heat opens pigments in your hair and mixes with the colour to make your colour leak out and also to put a lighter colour in. Its hard to explain. The heat and UV radiation basically cook your skin very slowly so it goes brown haha :)

Because there is melanin in our skin and when the sun hits our skin, the melanin absorbs the UV rays and darkens your skin.There is no Melanin in r hair, thats y our hair lightens.

The sun sort of "bleaches" the color out of hair. Light will brighten things up, just like if you have art work and you leave it on a wall, it will discolour a bit. Your hair brightening and your skin tanning are 2 totally different things. Skin darkens to protect itself, hair lightens because of the sun and the light "bleaching" it somewhat.
