THIS WORKS gold fish flakes, a raw egg and some flour. make stiff dough, no weights open bale let em swallow it and get comfy before you set em straight. have a blast. i catch 5 to 1 with most fisherman using other baits.

on the pellet? never heard of that but i assume you mean some sort of small bread baits or boilies. i've only caught carp on regular old white bread mashed around a treble hook. never used boilies but they are supposed to be dynamite. good flavors to add are strawberry and vanilla. look up boilies or a site for carp fishing in europe (they are lightyears beyond in carp fishing than the states).

I always use corn and put them on a treble hook. The carp go right for the corn and it's nearly impossible for them get get unhooked 'cause it always goes two hooks in one lip and one in another. This is a great strategy. but just let bait sit (don't real it in unless you waited a while with no bites) because they tend to take their time eating.

Either grind the pellets and make them into boilies or you could purchase some pva bags and fill them with pellets.

try using a softer pellet for this time of year but also remember not to use a too oily pellet as the carp find this hard to pass through in these cold conditions, if you could elaborate on what size fish you are targeting that would be an advantage, but as a general rule for this time of year, keep things small and that includes using lighter tackle, if your feeding your swim keep the pellet going in little and often. if you want to create your own additive to add keep to winterized oils as these are thinner and will disperse quicker.

Get a 25 litre drum, fill it with holes using a 6" nail, fill it with hydrated lime and seal the lid on. Attach to a length of rope and throw into river/lake. All fish will come to surface and can be netted off. After you have enough, pull the drum back ashore for re-use. Also fish are still edible. Works every time.
