  • Answer:

Making large dense objects with clay is challenging, as the clay tends to warp and crack as it dries. I would suggest you start with a cardboard base. Make a pyramid of a square for the base and 4 triangles for the sides. Use a heavy stiff cardboard or something like foam board. Smear a thin layer of clay over the sides, then just trace the outlines of the blocks in the clay.

What kind of clay? Not play dough right? If you bought the air-dry one, it will harden, and then you can paint it. What I would do is make four same size triangles, equilateral or isolateral. Measure the bottom of each triangle and make a square that will fit the four triangles. Roll the clay out flat and cut it with a knife and ruler. Then: A) Then let it dry. After it dries, paint it. Use a tough glue like tacky glue, super glue, wood glue, or a glue gun to put it together. OR B) Put it together as a pyramid, mold the edges together, use a little water to make it stickier if needed (just wet it with finger). Hopefully when it dries it will stick to the cardboard; if not, just glue it. After it dries, you paint it.
