  • Answer:

Having coverage on one bike does not automatically cover you for all bikes. The other bike will need to be insured as well. Contact your insurer with the bike details, including its VIN and you can get coverage for that motorcycle as well.

unlikely as the wording on your policy is likely to run as Any motorcycle not owned or belonging to you or not on a HP agreement plus the "new" bike needs to be insured in its own right before your any bike insurance takes effect

The simplest thing is to contact your insurance and add the new bike as a temporary additional vehicle. This most companies will do for free or a small fee. Insurance companies will do this by email or phone. You have internet access to ask the question.

Your insurance only covers riding another bike if that bike is insured in its own right. The ability pride other bikes will also include 'not belonging to you or loaned to you under a higher purchase agreement'. In short no, you can't ride it. What you can do is, when you've bought it, telephone your provider and tell them you want but on temporary cover immediately. They will extend cover for a nominal fee, allowing you to get it home.

Of course you can contact your insurer. You have got on here which suggests you have internet and therefore you can find their number through their website. Each bike will need to be insured before you ride it. You would need to check your policy as I suspect that you being able to ride another bike means that the bike is insured by someone else and you can ride it with their permission. Your new bike will not be insured at all.

As long as the bike is still insured by the previous owner, you should be safe; as 'riding other motorcycle' only includes bikes that are otherwise insured. Otherwise, avoid at all costs, ANPR will pick you up and you'll lose your licence faster than you can even blink.

No you would not be insured even if you bought the bike and the previous owner was insured and you rode it home third party (quite legal ) however if you had a accident then he would say he sold it to you ( truth ) that leaves you uninsured.

Hello Check the small print as it does not normally cover you if it is another bike owned by or registered in your name, And only if the other bike is loaned to you but full road legal with it's own insurance Andy C
