How do I convince my Parents to let me get a hamster?

  • All my friends have animal and i have a fish!!i want a hamster!!!Who do i convence my parents to let my have one?!?!

  • Answer:

I am trying to get my parents to let me have a hamster too I started off by going to the pet store with me dad i asked him a showed him them i asked him to call me mom because he was going to let me have one but she wasn't home. We left and then my dad brought me back in a different way (no idea why he went back) we looked for everything we would need for the hamster and counted up the price. I couldn't get 1 because my mom wasn't home but when she got home i told her about it and the price and how to take care of it and then researched them more. Tell your parents all the information you learn about them it will let your parents know that you are serious it might also help if you can pay for everything it will need such as a cage, food, water bottle, food dish, toys and of course the hamster itself. That is what i would do. Ask your parents to think about it for a couple days and then keep doing more research. Good Luck

10 steps to follow: 1. try writing them a letter, explain everything. why you want one, what type, where you plan on purchasing it... 2. do all the research about them including allergies to hamsters and poisons to them. clear a space where you want to keep it. 3. save all you can! 4. make sure your parents know that it wont just sit in the cage and that you'll get it out and play with it 5. i would suggest telling them you would tell them that you want to rescue a homeless hamster http://search.petfinder.com 6. map out a schedule of cleaning times and feeding times 7. let them know that when you go out of town you will hire (or ask a friend) to watch your hamster while your gone 8. find a good website and price all supplies for a hamster 9. be very responsible and make sure you follow all your parents rules in the mean time 10. pick the perfect time to ask, i would do it all through paper work and leave it out for them to find, avoiding difficult conversation good luck!

Tell them you was going to get a 12 foot Burmese Python Constrictor but out of consideration of their feelings you have decided on a Hamster instead.

I guess that would depend on the reason your parents don't want you to have one. Show as much responsibility as possible with what you have. (clean the fish tank and feed properly) also, make sure to keep your things in order. Then, have a talk with your parents and let them know that you are willing to take full responsibility of the hamster. They will not think you are ready unless you have shown them first that you can do this. Good Luck

First off are you responsible with the fish? Do you clean its tank weekly? Do you feed it daily? If you do it should be pretty easy to wear them down. Point out to them that you take really good care of your fish and its still alive, but you feel that you are ready for some more responsibility. Then have them go to a pet store with you to look at them, letting them see how cute they are. Make sure that you convince them that you are willing to clean the cage at least 2 times a week so they wont smell anything and you will feed it daily and make sure that it gets played with. Also it would probably be a good idea to offer to foot some of the start up fee. Good hamster cages aren't cheap. You want a cage that will be big enough for it to run around and have a few toys in it to keep it busy. You will also need a water bottle and a food dish as well as bedding. The best thing to use is wood chips they soak up alot of the smell from the urine. I hope that this helps you, remember make them see how responsible you are :)

well tell them all the pros b4 i got one my parents didnt want one cause they hated rodents, now they absolutely LOVE them lol Pros: small and clean dont smell (if properly taken care of) u can keep it in ur room so they dnt see it itll teach u responsibility (do research on them to show them u are serious) easy to take care of and they are pretty cheap once you have the supplies

Two years ago I had the same problem, but my friends gave me a hamster in front of the entire school for my birthday, so I got to keep it.
