  • Answer:

(Receiver should passthrough the video, this known as the looping method). - Plug a hdmi into the hdmi output on your device to your receiver's hdmi input. - Take a 2nd hdmi and plug it into your receiver's hdmi output to your tv's hdmi input. You can also use a s/pdif coaxial or s/pdif optical to receiver.ect

You would connect the video output of the receiver to the video input on the tv using HDMI cable (this will carry the video and audio signal. If your tv only has one input, then connect everything to the receiver, which usually have more than one video and audio input. You would connect an optical audio cable from the tv to the receiver so that you can hear the audio through your receiver for surround sound. Keep in mind that not all tv program have surround sound. Only those programs that have a Dolby Digital Logo have the surround sound. Hope this will help you out.

You don't need to feed a AV receiver video. They are meant to play audio. You can use RCA (red & white) audio cables or an optical cable from the TV to the Onkyo or from the source (cable box, DVD player, game console, etc.) to the Onkyo
