How can I set my monitor to the optimum resolution?

I am not able to set 1440X900 resolution my viewsonic VA 1703wb monitor. how to set that to default?

  • I am not able to set 1440X900 resolution in my Viewsonic VA 1703wb 17 inches monitor. how to set that? Earlier I had set that to default.

  • Answer:

My first thought was that this monitor doesn't support such a resolution. I found it does after reviewing its tech specs. Windows typically stores the selected resolution within the user profile. If the resolution is changed by someone with administrator rights, it will change on all user profiles. Best bet = login as administrator and set it to the resolution you want as "default."

1440x900 is intended for a 19 or 20" monitor. it may be that yours is made for it however, in which case its your graphics card. some older cards dont support higher res. it could also be a virus that is hindering you. i suggest you get it checked for virus/spyware infection.

That resolution seems to be for a 20'' wide screen monitor. The optimal resolution for 17'' is 1280x1024. Also, I don't think 17'' monitors support that high resolution.
