Well for 2012, the top universities in the United Kingdom at which to study physics and astronomy are Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, St. Andrews, Imperial College London, Lancaster, Birmingham and Bristol. Competition for places there will be very tough, but a degree from one of those universities will help you an awful lot. If you don't like the look of any of those universities then you could also try places like Warwick, Exeter, Nottingham, Leeds, etc. Good luck.
