  Assuming your budget is just for the camcorder, you are short of the prosumer area (Sony HDR-FX1000, Canon XF100) and have not yet any budget for tripods or other steadying devices, lights and audio gear. Personally, I like using the Sony HVR Z5 and Z7 for music videos. A buddy uses a Red Epic (he does indie short subjects, too). Generally, color correction - if needed - is done in post. You might white balance before capture... And we have not yet talked about whether your computer will need an upgrade (RAM, CPU, editing application, external hard drives, etc...) Capturing good video under poor lighting conditions = large lens diameter (70mm or wider) and big 3CCD or 3CMOS 1/3" or larger. Your task is to either decrease your requirements or increase your budget...
