Computer screen turning black?

  i disagree with the control panel idea... besides.. if the screen is black, how is he supposed to FIND control panel??? LOL If the computer screen stays black, it's most likely a hardware issue. That means bios (the brain of the brain of the computer basically) won't let you start up the computer. This happens often with new computers, especially when they're home built, and the most prevalent cause would be a power plug not connected or loose. I'd check around the graphics card, push the cables by the hard drive, and push in the RAM sticks. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, or if the computer is more than a month old, I'd unplug and plug back in the monitor cable and the power plug on your computer just to be sure. Otherwise, good luck, doing anything else without knowing what your doing can hurt the computer more than help (aka if that doesn't help, bring it to someone that knows what they're doing).
