    I am getting the 1st generation because it is cheaper. The only major difference between the two is the speakers. They come with earbuds so why would you need the speakers you can buy a 10.00 pair of nice speakers instead of getting a $50 more expensive iPod. I would highly recomend geting the first generation. Don't waste your money on the 2 generation!

The 2nd is a lot thinner and has speakers. It also has better internet connection making it faster.

besides the software and speakers the biggest difference is the hardware! the hardware on the ipod touch 2g is the fastest out of the ipod touch 1g and iphone, and iphone 3g.
