theres some black around the screen and when i go to regular channels that aren't hd they fill up the whole screen. how can i fix this????

Answer:
standard definition programing is shown in 4:3 and HD is 16:9. (these are standard and HD aspect ratios.)there is no way to change this with your receiver however some TVs will allow you to stretch the picture to fill in the black on the sides. the down fall to this is the picture is stretched so it looks weird and you will sacrifice picture quality when doing so. In the world of HD, this is unavoidable any dvds or blu rays you watch should fill in the sides as well as your HD channels. Hope this helps
