• Answer:

  You cannot simply use the numbers from another television. The adjustments are there to compensate for that unit's differences and the difference in the cable and source you use. You can do a rough calibration like this: * Get a Pixar BluRay movie and go to the Video setup menu. There are test patterns with instructions to set the basic brightness, color and contrast. If you do this - it will 'calibrate' the display for the BluRay player. But these settings may not be the best for your cable box or Sat receiver. Once you have done the calibration with the BluRay player - Freeze a screen with a face and some interesting background. Now flip to a major TV station or Premium movie like HBO, Starzs, Showtime. Flip back and forth and see how close the colors and brightness are. Tweek the settings while viewing the TV channel (some televisions have separate settings per input) and try to get a good blend. As a previous poster said - you can get BluRay version of DigitalVideoEssentials for about $18 from Amazon that has more test patterns and instructions to do a better calibration. But start with a Pixar disk. Hope this helps.
