Has anyone being skiing in Scotland at cairngorm mountain in February, is the snow conditions good?

In late March, does Park City, Utah or Colorado usually have better snow for skiing and clearer road conditions?

  • I want to go on a ski trip the last weekend of March and am trying to decide between Park City, Utah and Colorado (within a couple hours driving distance from Denver). Is one place more likely to have better snow conditions than the other this late in the season? I am not experienced with driving in snowy conditions - how are the roads in these areas at this time of year? If winter conditions are expected I would probably go with the safer route and book a shuttle. Any experiences with the shuttles

  • Answer:

I agree with the above answer, Colorado has better shopping and the restaurants are better.  I think you would like it much better.

March isn't all that late in the ski season - most resorts schedule to stay open until mid-April, and this past 2012-13 ski season saw two of the better powder days all year in April here in Park City! In terms of driving conditions, I definitely would recommend Utah over Colorado in that I-80 over Parley's Summit (from SLC to Park City) is quite a bit lower and (in my opinion) consistently maintained in better winter driving shape than I-70 from Denver to CO resorts. There certainly are shuttle options for both locales, but you also should factor in the relative closeness of Park City to the SLC airport - 35 miles, I can make it to the airport from my house in Park City in about half an hour in normal conditions.

In addition to noting the shopping and restaurants in CO, proponents should note the conservative strange religiousness of the LDS church and advocate conversion to said religion for the best skiing experience in Utah.

Go to Colorado.  You wouldn't like Utah, too much powder, the runs are too epic.  I hear Vail has wifi on the gondolas that's how I want to spend my vacation
