Why i cant read messages in my yahoo messenger? what will i do?

I just got yahoo messenger started and i cant read the messages being sent or recieved so how can it be fixed?

This is not an answer. I just wanted to say that I downloaded the latest version of messenger and am having the same problem. Can't talk with any of my friends. I can see what I type, until it leaves the compose box, then it disappears. And I can see that my friends are typing, but their words never appear. By the way, I can talk in a chat room, just not on PM's.

You could try uninstall your current Yahoo! Messenger and download from http://www.filehippo.com/download_yahoo_messenger/. The latest version is Yahoo! Messenger 8.1.0.195. You could also find a list of previous versions of Yahoo! Messenger on the right panel.
