No it won't do either. Too much weight. The only reason I know the answer to this is because I am the proud possessor of a Ford Ranger which is now kneeling in the driveway .

As a general rule you should not attempt to tow more than 80 % of towing capacity. Even with tow package (Trans Cooler, oil cooler, hd rad) Maximum towing capacity is 5860 lb when equipped with the 4.0-liter V6 which works out to about 4500 lbs!

if you r using a trailer it should be no problem. i have hauled 8300 with an 88 but the springs added make the difference. stock i could haul abut 4000 . WITH a trailer.. 2400 is a metric ton.just watch your speed stopping is as important as getting all the way there.
