Whats a Nice restaurant in Nice?

Whats a nice little restaurant for walk ins on or by Hollywood boulevard?

  Instead of Hollywood Blvd., go 2 blocks south to Sunset Blvd, and head about a mile west, to the Sunset Strip, to be exact. This legendary stretch of Sunset Blvd. is located between Fairfax Avenue and Doheny Drive, and is really where you want to go if you want great food. There are (admittedly) lots of places that get really crowded without a reservation, but not ALL restaurants are like that. Check out Mel's Diner at 8585 Sunset (about 1/2 block east of Sunset Plaza Dr.), which has outstanding classic American food. Meatloaf, chicken, salads, chili, grilled cheese to die for (with 3 cheeses on HUGE slices of brioche - this IS LA, after all), shakes, burgers ... and the atmosphere is really fun too. It's like a 50's diner, and if your timing is good, you can get a table out on the sidewalk and watch the beautiful people. If you're able, go a little east to LA Brea Avenue, and head south to Pink's, at the corner of Melrose and La Brea. This ain't your usual hot dog stand - it's an LA institution for over 60 years, and really is a must-see. I can understand wanting to stay on Hollywood Blvd, but Sunset has lots more, and you'll see what I mean once you get there. Bon apetit !!
