    More than likely it is just that when you turn it up it isn't sounding as clean as your used to. I know that as soon as I hear anything that isn't very clean coming from my subs I automatically freak out. I would say it just needs to be turned down a notch to keep them in a range that the speakers can handle easily so you do not hurt them. It could also be the amp being overdriven and making the sound distorted. How high do you have the amp set?

I think your flux capacitor may be leaky causing distortion in the final power amps. The flux capacitor is a replaceable item, you should contact Kenwood for a part #
