How do you text an AT&T customer via email?

How can I sent a text message to an AT&T customer from my email?

    Hi Send an e-mail to [email protected] I actually tested this method using my e-mail and my own cell phone. First I sent a text message to my phone from my e-mail account. The text message was received on my phone instantaneously. Then I replied to the text message from my phone and acknowledged receipt. After a few minutes, I received this text message as an e-mail. Well, sometimes I text phones from AOL Instant messenger and all I do is type +10digitphonenumber into the box where you type the address you want the message sent to. Try that out with your e-mail. It might work. So, for example, in the box type +7185538714
