Know any interesting survival tips?

Going on my first Cruise. Any survival tips or guide to know about?

  • I mean real survival tips. Like what to do if I fall overboard or the ship is sinking. Not like getting to the buffet early.

  • Answer:

I had the same kinds of questions before I went on my first cruise. You don't need to worry about getting to the buffet early - a buffet of some sort is usually going 24/7. Here is a link with some photos and information that will show you what to expect: http://www.squidoo.com/Mexico_Cruise

One does not just fall overboard. Don;t get so drunk, that you think you can fly. Don't get others so upset that they are tempted to throw you overboard. If the ship is sinking, go to your lifeboat. If you are so concerned - take the lifeboat drill you will have in the first 24 hrs onboard serious and know your way around the ship.

I can't help, since nothing like that has ever happened to me, and I've been on many cruises. But if it does, the best advice is to listen carefully to the instructions given to you. Also, on the first day out, there will be a life saving drill, where you will be taught what to do. Most of the time you will forget you're on a ship, and you'll be busy having a wonderful time.

Really, just relax. Do you drive your car every day? Cruise travel is a lot safer. The ship has life boats and life jackets. They explain everything to you at the beginning of your cruise. It is not likely that you will fall over board. It rarely happens. Just enjoy it and don't worry.

This is a easy question as NO ONE can really "Fall overboard" on a cruise ship unless your the size of a new born baby(the rails on the outside of the ship go from 3"from the floor to around chest high). Those who have fallen overboard were Drunk and climbed up and over the rails or they wanted to die. So, don't get drunk is the bottom line and oh yes, go to the muster safety drill before you sail(all cruise ship have these).

start swimming!

don't eat your weight in food every day... stay on board the ship (don't fall overboard...it's not easy to fall overboard anymore) don't antagonize anyone (and no one will kill you...)
