What is the best time of year to go on an Alaskan Cruise?

All of the main cruise companies do their cruise season to Alaska starting in early May through mid September. The early and late season cruises are the least expensive, but the weather is usually better in July and August (but no guarantees!) Which cruise line depends on your family preferences and ages of family members. Of the main cruise lines, Holland America caters more to an older age group. Celebrity is more high end. Disney is great for young kids. Carnival is usually cheaper and caters to younger people. Princess, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian are more in the middle for age of the travelers and price. I like the websites that specialize in cruises to be able to see all of the options by all of the cruise lines in one place and read about all of the different cruise lines. One of my favorites is cruises direct: http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-3894326-10482597 As you can see there are round trip cruises that depart from either Seattle, WA or Vancouver, BC. There are also cruise tours that travel one-way northbound to Alaska orginating in Seattle or Vancouver or ones originating in Alaska that go southbound to Seattle or Vancouver. You purchase airfare to either get to the departure port in Alaska or fly home from Alaska if the cruise originates from the south.

the season is fairly short: June through August so there is no other choice in the matter. as for choosing a line, it really depends on what you want in the experience.. both on board and on shore.
