Is Muay Thai the same as Thai Boxing and what is the difference between Muay Thai and Kickboxing?

there the same muay thai is the thai name for thai boxing. thers more combat righting as its more traditional with elbowing and nees and stuff kick boxing is the modern version.. has those things just not as much of them my ex boyfriend dose it. hope i helpd

Muay Thai and Thai Boxing are basically the same thing. Although they say that Kickboxing and Muay Thai have a close affinity there some differences, Kickboxing for example was created around the 1970's and Muay Thai........ well a lot older. Kickboxing is from America and Muay Thai from Thailand, Kickboxing is a hybrid martial art made up of Kung Fu, Kyokushinkai Karate, Kyokky Shinkai, Tae Kwon Do and MUAY THAI. Muay thai was created more for the street and for battles then evolved more into sport, Kickboxing was created more for the ring when it was created. In terms of techniques Kickboxing uses more punches and kicks in fight (although knees and elbows are also taught) and Muay Thai uses punches, kicks, knees and elbows. Even though they are both now more for the ring or known for being in the ring they both teach self defence as well.
