Answer:
I'm 18, I clean stalls and feed for 3 barns. It's a perfect job for a teen and if your good, people will recommend you. You'll get a LOT of experience and opportunities. I get $10/$9.50 an hour. :)

Mucking out stalls is the best way to make money at local stables. Thats a job you are most likely to find that you will be able to do. Maybe a small arn will allow you to ride.. Depending on your ability.. Some of their unused horses. Ask around. Good Luck :)

Hmm... I'll try to name some that haven't already been said, like mucking, haying and watering. Lesson assistant - help set up jumps and stuff for the lesson, help kids adjust their stirrups and check girths before the lesson and such Lesson prep assistant (?) - I don't know what this would be called. This is my job at the barn I ride at, and we call it "working the floor" but basically you're the one in the barn who helps all the lesson kids get groomed and tacked up for the lesson. If you're already affiliated with a barn you can ask if you could work out something like that. For beginner lessons you can make sure they do the tack right and pick out the hooves and all that. Show groom - if your barn goes to low level shows, you could bathe and groom peoples' horses for them, or braid if necessary, for some money.

I ride horses for my trainer at my barn, and muck out stalls. I get $15 every time i ride one of her horses. Your best bet is to try and talk your trainer into letting you help out around the barn. Also if you can't drive yourself you will have to work it out with your parents how you will get to and from work. BTW: I'm 15

I work as a working student at a barn. She lets me ride her horses because they all need exercising and preparing for shows. I also help prepare her lesson horses and teach other people how to tack and groom. In exchange I get to ride her horses. I prefer to be paid in riding, but she would pay me instead. If you live in Virginia, there is a website called www.virginiaequestrian.com . I placed an ad here saying that I was interested in a job. About a month later, she replied and I started there. Look for places that allowed classified ads to be placed. Don't go for anything more than you can do. Mucking stalls and grooming/tacking will probably be all you will be able to do, until you've grown older and people give you more responsibilites. btw I am only 14, turning 15 in January.
