I live in Toledo, Ohio and do not know where to recycle plastic containers with #3,#5, and #6. what to do?

Well, I live in Perrysburg and I know that you can call up the city and they will give you a list of places to recycle what your curbside won't pick up. By the way, how's that new garbage pick up fee going?

Sweetmusic has it right. The people that work at recycling centers are often highly motivated and know where you could recycle these plastics. You may also wish to check with local green stores, such as a Whole Foods or similar grocery store. They often have programs to collect the harder to recycle plastics. In the end, the reason why most commercial waste haulers do not want the other plastics is because they are harder to recycle effectively. You can influence this in two ways: 1) buy products made from recycled plastics to increase the overall demand for all recycled plastics, and 2) if you don't have a way to recycle the other types, buy products of the types your hauler does collect. And, of course, reducing is always the best first step.

Call the local recycle center. They can direct you to the correct place and procedures.
