How do I find my singing voice by myself?

How can I find my singing voice?

  • I've been singing a lot of Neil Young and other artists, but I would like to find my own voice.. does anyone know , or do I just keep practicing and writing songs to find it?

    Don't try to emulate other artists, but instead listen to and play songs by other artists that you enjoy. After writing and playing enough you will find you're own voice come through without putting much thought into it. Also, a singer should never try to make their voice sound like another just because they like that particular artist. Everyone is born with their own voice.

I really suggest to keep singing. I don't know much of what to say. Maybe you could sing artist who you feel have a simliar vocal range. For example: I sing lots of stuff by the chick that plays Kate Monster/ Lucy the Slut in the original cast of Avenue Q because I feel that my voice is similar to hers.

i dont know ive lost mine and the drive for it has like stopped its hard for me to listen to my own recording but you know how it is everyone wants to be a star
