Question about my alto sax jazz mouthpiece?

  • Ok, so a couple months ago, my dad bought me a otto link metal jazz mouthpiece for me. however, during the 3rd day of jazz, my music teacher said that he doesn't want me using ...show more

  • Answer:

ask your teacher why he doesn't like the sound, and see if you can work something out with him. your metal mouth piece is much better than the Yamaha and if you like the sound, you should stick with the metal one. also, your dad should understand if you tell him your teacher told you not to play on it, and should be mad at the teacher if anybody. if your teacher wont let you play on it a all, period, then find other places to play with it, ex, form your own group with some other musician friends. also i just want to add that your dad is pretty awesome for buying you that mouth piece. i have 3 pretty nice mouth pieces my self: a selmer C star, a vintage handmade Eberheart from the 30's for my alto and a Meyer for my tener, all about $100 apeice, all that money coming out of my wallet. pretty awesome dad you've got.
