You really answered your own question. Salary is 100% dependent on where you are, what area of law you are employed in, your experience level, educational background, etc. Any number given to you would be inaccurate. A paralegal can make anywhere from $12.00 an hour to $100,000 a year and both dollar amounts are existent in this economy. I am a working paralegal in the state of Texas with a degree and I know dozens of paralegals making a living on the lowest end to 1 making $100,000 a year. All of our salaries vastly vary, again as you stated, based on many factors. One area of law is not "better" than the other right now. The law field is hurting all around and no one area of law is making any more than the other. I always mention that is salary is a motivating factor, do not become a paralegal. It is a hard field to get into if your motivations are about money. Expect to start off making $12/hr and slowly working your way up the salary chart with years of experience. Very few of us graduate and hit the jackpot. That just isn't the norm unless you know people.
