What's the difference between what an anesthesiologist and a nurse anesthetist does?
-
i know an anesthesiologist is a doctor, and a nurse anesthetist is of course a nurse, but what does the nurse do that's different from what the doctor does?
-
Answer:
CRNAs cannot practice without being under the supervision of an anesthesiologist and, if something goes wrong, the doctor is the one who will he sued. Insurance will only pay a CRNA for doing one procedure at a time while the supervising anesthesiologist can be paid for supervising 4 (I think) CRNAs simultaneously
