Is A Pharmacist a good career....?

  • I am considering being a pharmacist, but I don't LOVE science, only certain kinds, and I hate math. Is it still a good career if I don't have a passion for it?

    If you hate math I would pass it up, sorry. They do make very good money and are technically doctors, that's why you can call them for advice about medicines. They have to have a wealth of info so they can know what drugs will interact and such. You may want to talk to a counselor at your school or better yet see if you can intern at your local drug store for a day or to. Sometimes you have to experience a job before you can commit your whole life to it. I wanted to be in law before I shadowed a lawyer, I switched my major to psych the next quarter and never looked back. Once I got in there I hated it! If you do pursue this just be prepared for the amount of schooling involved, and as I said there is a lot of math, dosages and such. Good luck in whatever you decide and I hope this helped.

I am totally in the same boat as you. except that im not considering to become a pharmacist - i have my mind set on it. I suck at science and i totally hate the thought of all the studying i will have to do, but it's a great, good pay job and its so peaceful in a pharmacy.... I dont know, i really suggest you do something you have a passion for. I am wanting to become a pharmacist because i dont have a passion, which is kinda sad now that i think about it... bleh.
