Is there any difference between an RN and a BSN salary?

On average, what is the salary difference between an RN and a BSN RN?

  • Answer:

There is no difference. If a floor/facility is looking for a staff RN, the pay is the same for an ASN or a BSN. (ASNs have to pass the same NCLEX as BSNs!) The difference comes in when BSNs may be offered positions before ASNs and there are certain jobs a facility may only hire BSNs for, such as management. Therefore, the only difference between the degrees is not pay but hiring preference.
