What are some jobs at hospitals?

For Speech Language Pathologists, what jobs are available at hospitals?

  • I mean, all I hear is "you can work at a hospital", but what specific roles? Just trying to get more details.

  • Answer:

People have to really be careful out thwre now days, as far as education goes. The educational institution can only say yay or nay as far as whether or not they have the program to offer you. You have to do your own research as far as knowing about the job outlook, salaries, lay-off likelihood, job security, the actuality of he job itself, extra degree levels that may be necessary in order to compete with everyone else looking for the same job, etc... .......... ........... ............ I once thought about Radiology. But after doing research by reading he Job Outlook Handbook at the local bookstore, among other in-depth research, decided against it. Every year there is only 1,000 jobs available nationwide in the US and most are part-time or on-call. I need to know that aftwr I graduate, I will be able to repay my student loans and pay my bills and buy a new car. ........... ............ ............ I hear so much about students graduating with sports science wanting to go to physical therapy school, those with psychology degrees not getting into grad school and now are flippin burgers at mcdonalds, or biology degree people who are delivering flowers for a living. I hear of those who went to technical schools to be a radiology tech but cant find a job and are security officers instead. I hear of business management, geology, religious studies, ems, speech pathology/audiology degree holders and they cant find work. .......... ........... ............ I went back to school after ten years away, and was going to major in Forensic Biology. I did my good research and stayed away from that idea as well. I called CSI in my area and they confirmed my research findings: hollywood gives wrong impression for the actuality of the job - - - - will not be interviewing potential suspects, not be driving a hummer, not be wearing a dress, not be carrying a weapon (police academy required for those depts in which reqd for u to carry a weapon - no thanks), will have to be expert witness, will have to pick brain matter off the carpeting for eleven straight hours, and only make $12/hr give or "take." Plus, the CSI dept screens Forensic candidates more thoroughly than a Police Officer cuz ur alone in the house with drugs, money and weapons. .............. ............... ................ Congrads on doing your research. Please do more. Call around and go to the bookstore.
